Republic of Croatia has always had a favorable geo-geopolitical position and traffic connectivity is one of the many advantages that goes in favor to it. The roads were built with the aim of easier and simpler traffic connections and mostly for the establishment of trade routes across the mountain range, and were initially only for cattle. Later, road transport was also enabled by means of road haulage, thus increasing trade in goods and trade. During the history, the roads were mostly macadam type, but with time and modernization, there were bigger needs for better traffic connection, so there were their upgrades and extensions. Today, the most famous historical roads are used in daily car traffic across the mountain range to Dalmatia. The roads that most affected the connection of Croatia were the Lujzinska road, Karolina and Jozefina, which led from the interior of Croatia to the coast. In order to shorten the way to Dalmatia, it was decided to make a road through Velebit on the route of Sv. Rok-Mali Halan-Obrovac. These roads have greatly influenced Croatia's better connections, but also a better connection with the port cities, which has also increased maritime traffic.
