Abstract | Kava je globalni fenomen. |
Abstract (english) | Coffee is a global phenomenon. Weather we start the day with coffee, doing business or meeting friends, coffee is part of our social and family life. The global coffee industry directly or indirectly employs more than 120 million people as coffee is one of the most important trade products. On global markets, the coffee is just behind oil trading in dollar terms. Although coffee originates from Africa, the coffee was spread across Europe and gradually to the whole world, through Arabia and the Ottoman conquests. However, coffee production is a very difficult process, which largely depends on weather conditions. Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer, and two basic types of coffee are Arabica and Robusta. Today there are many different ways to prepare coffee, from Italian espresso, Turkish coffee, French press, or brewed coffee. Modern time carries new trends, so new tastes are developing every day. But, because of the fast lifestyle in Western developed countries, instant coffee consumption is also highest than ever. Croats are faithful coffee drinkers, with a long tradition of enjoying this aromatic drink since the 18th century. Today more than 80% of Croats drink coffee regularly. |
