In the development of society, state and person, the most important component as a fundamental value from ancient times to the present is safety. In the beginning, security was based on the voluntary efforts of witch doctors and hunters, until the establishment of organized mercenaries in the service of the masters. The current reasons for the establishment of private security services are different. They include an increase in the crime rate, the need of companies and individuals for an additional dose of security, but also an insufficient number of police forces, i.e. their increased involvement in all segments. Private protection is a security economic activity that is carried out in order to achieve an acceptable level of private and public security of citizens and their property and to maintain peace and order within the contractual scope Private security jobs refer to activities undertaken by private companies or individuals, but often also by the state, in order to ensure the safety of people, property and information. It includes a wide range of services, from building security, body protection of individuals, installation and maintenance of security systems such as alarm devices and video surveillance, to maintaining public order. In the context of increasing security threats, private protection plays a significant role in the modern world, therefore the need for personalized security solutions has arisen. The Law on Private Protection regulates the conditions and manner of performing activities and tasks of protection of persons and property that are not provided by the state and above the scope provided by the state, as well as the conditions, method and supervision of the work of persons who perform activities and tasks of private protection. The regulation of private security in Croatia includes licensing and training of security guards, as well as certain standards of work and ethics, which is crucial for ensuring legal and high-quality service provision.
