A seaport is a land area directly connected to the sea with built and unbuilt shores, breakwaters, devices, lines and other facilities intended for mooring and anchoring and protection of ships, yachts and boats, loading and unloading of passengers and goods. Ports are divided into: cargo, passenger , mixed, fishing, tourist, commercial and industrial. The Mediterranean or Mediterranean Sea is a sea with an area of about 2.5 million km² and connects Europe, Asia and Africa. Its coastal is considered one of the most developed in the world. The Mediterranean Sea is home to some of the most important European, African and Asian ports for this part of the world, namely Marseille, Genoa, Barcelona, Piraeus, Haifa and Alexandria. The ports are equipped with cranes, forklifts, special means of transport and various warehouses for different types of goods. Ports enable the economic development of land areas. With the development of the economy, maritime transport is becoming one of the most important branches of transport, due to its ability to transport large amounts of cargo, low cost of long-distance transport and the availability of any part of the world.
