The "One Belt One Road" project is a Chinese proposal aimed at promoting peaceful cooperation and joint development around the world. Cooperation under the "One Belt One Road" project is something in which all countries, large or small, rich or poor, can participate on an equal footing. " It consists of two parts - the land "belt" that connects China with Central and South Asia, Russia and Europe and the sea "route" that connects Chinese ports with those in Southeast Asia; South Asia, Africa, Middle East and Europe. One of the most ambitious infrastructure projects ever designed, it is a huge collection of development and investment initiatives that would stretch from East Asia to Europe, expanding China’s economic and political influence. This large strategy covers about 65 percent of the world’s population and one-third of the world’s GDP. One of the main elements of the "One Belt One Road" initiative launched by China in 2013 is the concept of the Silk Road in the 21st century. The goal of this mega project is to revolutionize offshore trade from Southeast Asia through Africa to Europe, and to put the participating countries on the path of economic development with the help of infrastructure development along the coast. Although the importance of high-speed railways and motorways is unquestionable, maritime transport still plays a primary role in terms of traffic volume.
