This paper presents the role of innovations in a touristic offer of some place, in this case Baške Oštarije. Thanks to the literature that was used in writing this paper, it is shown an attempt to develop tourism in Baške Oštarije in three cases. The first time in 1971 year, the second time after The Homeland War and the third time in 2014 year. Serious tourism in Baške Oštarije started to develop in 1971 by building of hotel Velebno. Unfortunately, The Homeland War stopped the developement of tourism, moreover hotel Velebno was destroyed. In the second attempt of developement of tourism, after The Homeland War, it is obvious that the lack of innovation has led to the fact that renovated hotel Velebno must be closed because of its unprofitability. The third and last attempt of developement of tourism in Baške Oštarije started in 2014 when an abandoned school was rebuilt at the hostel "Baške Oštarije". This third attempt is the best example of the role of innovation in tourist offer in the development of tourism in a place. Because, thanks to innovations, Baške Oštarije has shown a continuous increase in the number of overnights and tourist visits in the last three years.
