One of the fundamental principles of the Quality Management System is continuous improvement based on Deming's PDCA cycle. After the implementation of the quality management standard and obtaining the certificate according to the ISO 9001 standard, all participants in the system should constantly monitor the implementation of the Quality Management System process. In order to find problems and solve them, they use methods and tools that help them to identify problems that arise during the implementation of the process and, based on the results of the methods and tools used, influence the establishment of continuous improvement in the Quality Management System. The paper deals with the theoretical concepts of quality management, the history of quality science, and the most important scientists who made the greatest contribution to the development of the science of quality development. Furthermore, the paper describes the tools and methods used for quality management, i.e. for solving problems that arise in the system. The paper describes an example of the use of tools and methods that are used to analyze the problem that has arisen and the possibilities of solving it through their use.
