The European Union is an intergovernmental and supranational organization that contains 27 European countries. The legal order created by the European Union has become the primary goal of society and political life. Russia and Ukraine have a long shared history and cultural roots. These two countries share a similar language, history and cultural traditions. However, over time they have developed different cultural, political and national identities. On February 24, 2022, Russia attacked its neighboring country, which resulted in the outbreak of war in Ukraine. This military aggression of Russia against Ukraine was strongly condemned by the European Union. Since then, the EU has imposed even more extensive sanctions on Russia than in 2014, when Russia illegally annexed Crimea. The Russian invasion of Ukraine created one of the biggest humanitarian crises in recent European history. It also caused major shocks in the global economy, causing significant changes in energy markets and causing geopolitical tensions that affected international economic relations.
