The paper deals with the theme of a crane that are irreplaceable machines when it comes to transporting large amounts of cargo. The first cranes are still visible to the ancient Greeks and then developed through the Romans to the modern ones that are in use today. Large cranes can be industrial and construction, harbor cranes, floating cranes, deck cranes, etc. Today, the most famous are the tower cranes used in construction, the harbor cranes used in ports, and the cranes that are most frequently used in industry. The performance of the crane represents the technical possibility and the maximum transport effect of a plant that it can perform under the optimum conditions corresponding to the purpose of the respective transverse media. The theoretical performance of the crane is a technical ability that can be performed with optimum working conditions. The actual effect of the crane is one that is realized when using a specific transfer agent under real operating conditions that are not optimal. Generally, the performance of the transport means and the crane also depends on the essential dimensions such as the speed of the carriage, the length of transport, the incline angle and the type of conveyor.
