| Abstract | Gledajući s više aspekata rijeka Neretva ima izuzetan značaj za Republiku Hrvatsku. Prvi je naravno onaj gospodarski jer je ovo mjesto bogato plodnom zemljom idealno za poljoprivredu, najpoznatije po uzgoju agruma. Također Neretva iz godine u godinu postaje sve privlačnija turistima. Dolina Neretve predstavlja jedno od najvećih močvarnih područja na teritoriju Hrvatske koje je stanište brojnih rijetkih i ugroženih vrsta ptica te je samim time od velikog ekološkog značaja možda i za cijelu Europu, a ne samo za Hrvatsku. Kulturna baština također je od velike važnosti za Hrvatsku s obzirom da je ovo područje arheoloških nalazišta gdje možemo spomenuti mjesto Vid pored Metkovića gdje su pronađeni ostaci antičkog grada Narone. Upravljanje krajobrazima doline Neretve je zahtjeva pažljivo planiranje te održavanje ravnoteže između stvarnih potreba i interesa. Jedan od izazova s kojim se dolina Neretve susreće je očuvanje biološke raznolikosti. Važno je sačuvati prirodna staništa divljeg svijeta. Međutim ubrzan razvoj turizma i urbanizacija mogu rezultirati u vidu negativnih posljedica za okoliš zbog toga je važno okrenuti se održivom razvoju turizma. Očuvanje kulturnih krajolika također je jedan od izozova u kontekstu razvoja turizma te očuvanja povjesnih lokaliteta. Poljoprivreda ima značajnu ulogu u dolini Neretve međutim problem stvara odvodnja za svrhe poljoprivrede čime se ugrožavaju ornitološki rezervati koji su stanište već navedenim ugroženim pticama. Kako bi se premostili izazovi potrebni su zajednički napori iz raznih sektora da bi se očuvale prirodne, ekonomske te kulturne vrijednosti doline Neretve. |
| Abstract (english) | Looking at it from multiple perspectives, the Neretva River holds exceptional significance for the Republic of Croatia. Firstly, there is the economic aspect as this region boasts fertile land, ideal for agriculture, most notably known for citrus fruit cultivation. Additionally, year after year, the Neretva River becomes increasingly attractive to tourists. The Neretva Valley represents one of the largest marshland areas in Croatia, serving as a habitat for numerous rare and endangered bird species, thus holding immense ecological importance, perhaps even for the entirety of Europe, not just Croatia. Cultural heritage is also of great importance to Croatia, given that this area is an archaeological site. Notably in village Vid, near Metković, is home to the remains of the ancient city of Narona. Managing the landscapes of the Neretva Valley demands careful planning and the maintenance of a balance between actual needs and interests. One of the challenges faced by the Neretva Valley is the preservation of biodiversity. It is crucial to conserve natural habitats for wildlife. However, the rapid development of tourism and urbanization can result in adverse environmental effects, making it essential to focus on sustainable tourism development. Preserving cultural landscapes is also a challenge in the context of tourism development and the conservation of historical sites. Agriculture plays a significant role in the Neretva Valley; however, the drainage for agricultural purposes poses a problem, endangering ornithological reserves, which are the habitats of the previously mentioned endangered birds. To overcome these challenges, collaborative efforts from various sectors are necessary to preserve the natural, economic, and cultural values of the Neretva Valley. |
