Abstract
Alternative tourism grew as an answer to its' unsustainable counterpart of mass tourism. Mass tourism has been found to negatively impact various economic, social and ecological aspects of tourism destinations, which makes it unsustainable in the long run. The growth of various forms of alternative tourism has been rapid. Same can be said about the popularity of various alternative food regimes, especially vegeterian, gluten-free, macrobiotic and mediterranean regimes. All of this makes the research into the importance of food in those tourism forms quite hard. Despite that, the conclusion can be readily made in a way that the health, economic and ecologic importance of food is rapidly growing from the perspective of both the people and the tourists, especially as those same people are increasingly thinking about food as an unavoidable part of their hollistic experiential value derived from their travel.
Abstract (english)
Alternativni turizam javlja se kao posljedica neodrživosti rasta masovnog turizma, koji nepovoljno utječe na ekološke, ekonomske i društvene aspekte destinacija. Podjele alternativnog turizma brojne su te se međusobno isprepleću. Slično se događa i s pojavom alternativnih oblika prehrane, od kojih je također sve veći broj poznat javnosti, a posebice vegetarijanska, bezglutenska, makrobiotička te mediteranska prehrana. Sve to znatno otežava svrhu ovog preglednog rada, koja je ispitati ulogu hrane u različitim oblicima alternativnog turizma sudeći prema njenoj zastupljenosti u domaćoj i stranoj znanstveno-stručnoj literaturi. Međutim, od koje god podjele da se krene, zaključak je isti – uloga hrane od velikog je značaja za ljude iz nekoliko razloga od kojih su najvažniji zdravstveni, ekonomski i ekološki, a pogotovo kada ti isti ljudi putuju u udaljene lokacije kako bi uživali u kulturi, okolišu te različitim, specifičnim aspektima turističkih destinacija po vlastitom izboru.
