Abstract
Pojam motivacije prisutan je u stručnoj literaturi od početka 20. stoljeća. Iako su otada do danas provedena mnoga istraživanja i razvijene brojne teorije, još uvijek nije definirano koji točno faktori i na koje sve načine utječu na motivaciju. Postoji mnogo različitih teorijskih pristupa na temu motivacije od kojih jedan pravac motivaciju usko vezuje uz ljudske potrebe, dok je polazna točka gledišta druge skupine autora usmjerena na kognitivne procese koji utječu na ljudsko ponašanje. Razlike između ova dva pravca rezultirale su podjelom u dvije kategorije: sadržajne i procesne teorije motivacije. U ovom radu pojašnjene su neke od najznačajnijih teorija motivacije, a posebna je pozornost stavljena na motivaciju i motivacijske tehnike u poslovnom okruženju, kao i važnost istih za uspješno poslovanje organizacije.

The term motivation is present in the scientific literature of the early 20th century. Although, since then until today many studies are conducted, and there are a number of theories developed, still it is not clearly defined what factors and ways affect motivation. There are many different theoretical approaches to the subject of motivation, one of which represents that the motivation is closely linked to human needs, and the starting point of view of other authors are on cognitive processes that influence human behavior. The differences between these two directions resulted in the division into two categories: content and process theories of motivation. This paper clarified some of the most important theories of motivation, and special attention was placed on the motivation and motivational techniques in the business environment, as well as their importance for the success of the organization.
