AbstractPrehrana sportaša vrlo je važna za postizanje što boljih sportskih rezultata. Pažljivo planiranje vrste, kvalitete te omjera hranjivih i zaštitnih tvari svakodnevica su svakog uspješnog sportaša. Prehrana sportaša sastoji se prvenstveno od visokog udjela ugljikohidrata, te primjerenog udjela masti i bjelančevina. Mikronutrijenti, odnosno vitamini i minerali, moraju biti pažljivo balansirani zbog adekvatne sportske izvedbe. U slučaju manjka pojedinog mikronutrijenta nužna je njegova suplementacija. Prioritet prehrane sportaša zadovoljavanje je energetskih potreba organizma. Preporučen dnevni unos energije varira od osobe do osobe i ovisi o spolu, dobi, visini, masi i tjelesnoj aktivnosti tijekom dana. Odabir kvalitetnih hranjivih tvari mora početi već prilikom bavljenja sportom u dječjoj dobi kako bi se osigurao ispravan rast i razvoj organizma. Omjer unešenih hranjivih tvari razlikuje se ovisno o vrsti sporta kojom se sportaš bavi, ovisno je li riječ o sportovima u kojima je ključna izdržljivost ili mišićna snaga.

Parallel abstract (English)The nutrition of athletes is very important for achieving best sport results. Careful planning of quality and nutritive substances is a daily routine of every successful athlete. Athletes nutrition is mostly consisted of carbohydrates, followed by fats and proteins. Micronutrients, vitamins and minerals must be carefully balanced for adequate sports performance. In case of lack of individual micronutrients supplementation is recommended. Well balanced diet is satisfying the energy needs of the athletes organism. The recommended daily intake of energy varies from person to person and depends on gender, age, height, weight and physical activity throughout the day. Selection of high-quality nutrients should begin in childhood in order to ensure proper growth and development. The ratio of the introduced nutrients varies depending on the type of sport, depending whether it is a sport where endurance is a key or muscular strength.
