Transport is the movement of humans, animals and goods from one place to another. It is important because it plays an important part in economic growth and globalization. The different modes of transport are air, water and land transport. The mode of transport we discuss mainly in this final work is land transport. Over the decades land transport became slow for it demands, roads became to small for vehicle size and all over safety was poor. Some changes had to be taken. Introduction of modern transportation systems brought better organization, greater safety for all traffic participants and low cost of trevelling and transportation of goods. For a successfu economy the ability to guarantee low cost and efficient transprtation is a fundamential requirement. Failure to achieve this is a threat to competitivnes. For example in the Republic of Croatia public transportation is very different between cities. Some cities near the coast are example of undeveloped public transport which leads to increased number of private cars and traffic colapses, during summer months especially. On the other side Zagreb has more developed public transport, less cars per inhabitant and traffic jams are not as common as in other cities.
