Europski parlament jedino je izravno tijelo Europske unije koje zajedno s Vijećem Europske unije čini zakonodavnu vlast Europske unije. Sastoji se od 751 zastupnika koji se biraju svakih 5 godina u državama članicama koji zastupaju one političke stranke kojima pripadaju. Prema Lisabonskom ugovoru zastupnici svake države članice biraju se prema broju stanovnika svake države. The European Parliament is the directly elected parliamentary institution of the European Union. Together with the Council of the European Union and the European Commission, it exercises the legislative function of the European Union. The Parliament is composed of 751 members, who represent the second largest democratic electorate in the world and they elected every five years and sit according to political allegiance.
