In this paper, the author lists the types of weapons in accordance with the Law on the Acquisition and Possession of Weapons by Citizens and classifies them into individual groups, depending on the possibilities of their acquisition and possession by citizens, i.e. related to their use by hunters and the mentioned groups of athletes. It further lists the necessary documents to obtain the desired weapons and the necessary physical and mental abilities to hold them. It shows the difference between the previous mandatory law and the law that is in force today. The paper also looks at the legislative adjustments that have been made and which are in correlations with the Republic of Croatia as a full member of the European Union, and to the tra nsfer of weapons across the border to the territory of third countries, that is, to the member states of the European Union. The competent body that keeps records through the Central Information System is also part of this work. It s part also includes mis demeanor provisions in accordance with the current law, as well as examples from the practice of the Administrative Court because of the possibility of starting an administrative dispute due to dissatisfaction with the decision of the competent authorities , all related to giving or confiscating weapons. At the end of the paper, the author is referring to the American Constitution as the fundamental legal act of the state, more precisely to it s Second Amendment, which guarantees citizens the right to have weapons in their possession.
