The European Parliament is the directly elected parliamentary institution of the European Union. Together with the Council of the European Union and the European Commission, it exercises the legislative function of the European Union. The Parliament is composed of 751 members, who represent the second largest democratic electorate in the world and they elected every five years and sit according to political allegiance. Under the Lisabon Treaty, seats are allocated to each state according to population. The president of the European Parliament is Antonio Tajani elected in January,2017. Below the President, there are 14 vice presidents who chair debates when the President is not on the chamber. The European parliament has the legislative, supervisory and the budget power. The Parliament has three places of work; Strasbourg,Bruxelles and Luxembourg.
