AbstractUjedinjeni narodi ili skraćeno UN, je međunarodna organizacija za održavanje mira i sigurnosti u svijetu, razvijanje dobrosusjedskih odnosa, ekonomsku suradnju, širenje tolerancije i promicanje poštivanja ljudskih prava i osnovnih sloboda čovjeka. Ujedinjeni narodi su donijeli Povelju u kojoj je sadržana pravna osnova za pokretanje i izvršavanje mirovnih operacija a koje se poduzimaju u svrhu djelovanja u slučaju prijetnje miru, narušenja mira ili čina agresije. Poveljom Ujedinjenih naroda je Vijeću sigurnosti dodijeljena odgovornost za održavanje svjetskog mira i sigurnosti, te ono može usvojiti niz mjera u tu svrhu, uključujući uspostavu mirovnih operacija. Mirovne operacije pokušavaju na određene dozvoljene načine održati ili dovesti do mira tj. mirnog rješavanja ili izbjegavanja sukoba. Mirovne operacije Ujedinjenih naroda jedinstven su i dinamičan instrument koji je razvijen kako bi državama pogođenim sukobima pomogao da stvore uvjete za mir. Operacije održavanja mira su se razvile ujedno od glavnih oruđa za osiguranje mira i sigurnosti te one nisu prisilne akcije, već za dolazak mirovnih snaga UN-a mora biti dan pristanak država u sporu. Možemo ih opisati kao „akcije ili mjere koje uključuju upotrebu multinacionalnih oružanih snaga pod kontrolom Ujedinjenih naroda u svrhu održanja mira, sprječavanjem izbijanja oružanog sukoba ili uspostavljanja mira, u situacijama (unutrašnjih ili međunarodnih) nemira, na temelju pristanka ili zahtjeva svih stranaka i bez upotrebe oružja, osim u samoobrani.“

Parallel abstract (English)The United Nations (UN) is an intergovernmental organization to promote international co-operation to maintain peace and security in the world, the development of good neighborly relations, economic cooperation, expansion of tolerance and promoting respect for human rights and fundamental freedom. United nations have brought the Charter to contain a legal basis for the initiation and execution of peace operations which are undertaken for the purpose of action in the event of threats to peace, breaches of the peace or act of agression.Security Council has been given responsibility for maintaining world peace and security, and it can adopt a series of measures to this end, including the establishment of peace operations.They are trying to specific ways to maintain or bring peace solving or avoiding conflicts .Peace operations of the United Nations are a unique and dynamic instrument developed to help countries affected by the conflict,helped to create the conditions for peace . They developed into one of the main tools for ensuring peace and security, and they are not forced action, but for the arrival of UN peacekeepers must be the consent of the state in litigation.We can describe them as "actions or measures, including the use of international armed forces under the control of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace, the prevention of armed conflict or restore peace, in situations (internal or international) unrest, based on consent.
