This paper deals with the analysis of the European Arrest Warrant, a key instrument of judicial cooperation in criminal matters within the European Union. The European Arrest Warrant enables the swift and efficient surrender of persons suspected or convicted of criminal offenses between EU member states. The aim of this paper is to explore the legal framework and the functioning of the European Arrest Warrant, with particular emphasis on its application in the Republic of Croatia. Successful implementation of the European Arrest Warrant relies on high-quality judicial and police cooperation among EU member states. The paper draws on an analysis of legal literature and relevant legislative acts, with a special focus on case law in the Republic of Croatia. The European Arrest Warrant has facilitated the faster extradition of criminal offenders between member states, but certain issues remain, such as inconsistencies in its application. The conclusion of the paper highlights that the European Arrest Warrant is an effective tool for combating cross-border crime and strengthening judicial cooperation within the European Union.
