Abstract
The island of Korčula is a tourist destination that attracts more and more tourists with its attractiveness and natural beauty. The island is located in the south of the Republic of Croatia and belongs to the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Some of the first names for Korčula were KorkyraMealnie or Black Korčula. Korčula has been under occupation in history, but Italy has had the most significant influence. The town of Korčula and other places are working to make guests more comfortable in Korčula by organizing a large number of events, some of which are unique and are held only on Korčula. The aim of this paper is to present Korčula as a tourist destination and to describe the tourist components it contains. I will look at catering facilities and traffic availability. Throughout my work I will also point out the tourism development cycle and the strategy of tourism development in Korčula.
Abstract (english)
Otok Korčula je turističko mjesto koje svojim atraktivnostima i prirodnom ljepotom privlači sve više turista. Otok je smješten na samom jugu Republike Hrvatske i pripada Dubrovačko- Neretvanskoj županiji. Neki od prvih imena za Korčulu su bili Korkyra Mealnie ili Crna Korčula. Korčula je u povijesti bila pod raznim okupacijama ali najznačajniji utjecaj imala je Italija. Grad Korčula i ostala mjesta rade na tome da gostima uljepšaju boravak na Korčuli organizirajući veliki broj manifestaciju od kojih su neke jedinstvene i provode se samo na Korčuli. Cilj ovo grada je predstavi Korčulu kao turističku destinaciju i opisati turističke komponete koje ona sadrži. Osvrnuti ću se na ponudu ugostiteljskih objekata i prometnu dostupnost. Kroz rad ću se također ukazati na turistički razvojni ciklus i na strategiju razvitka turizma na Korčuli.
