Abstract
Dana 1. srpnja 2013. godine Republika Hrvatska postala je 28. punopravna članica Europske unije te je njezin postupak ulaska trajao nepunih 10 godina. Ulaskom u Europsku uniju Republika Hrvatska se odlučila na preuzimanje eura. Kako proces uvođenja nije jednostavan, Hrvatska je vlada objavila Strategiju za uvođenje eura kao službene valute u Republici Hrvatskoj. Uvođenjem eura kao službene valute očekuju se mnogi pozitivni učinci, no nezaobilazan je strah njezinih negativnih posljedica. Prvi korak Republike Hrvatske prema uvođenju eura je ulazak u tečajni mehanizam ERM II. Analizom ekonomskih koristi i troškova pokazalo se da bi njegovo uvođenje imalo pozitivan utjecaj na hrvatsko gospodarstvo.
Abstract (english)
On 1 July, 2013 the Republic of Croatia became the 28th full member of the European Union and its procedure lasted less than 10 years. Entering the European Union, Republic of Croatia has obligated to accept the euro. As the introduction process is not simple, the Croatian government has published a “Strategy for the introduction of the euro as the official currency in the Republic of Croatia”. The introduction of the euro as the official currency is expected to have many positive effects, but fear of its negative consequences is inevitable. The first step of Croatia towards the introduction of the euro is the entry into the ERM II exchange rate mechanism. The analysis of economic benefits and costs showed that its introduction would have a positive impact on the Croatian economy.
